 migh-T by Kumiko Watari exhibition "Deep in the Jungle"

Kumiko Watari will host a solo exhibition in a gallery space in central Kyoto from 5th until 18th April 2014. Installation artworks will be on display and migh-T's SS14 collection will be on sale. Some archive and limited edition pieces will be shown too. We look forward to welcoming many people there!

京都で個展をします！ファッションとテキスタイルのインスタレーションの展示で、migh-Tの最新春夏コレクション”Deep in the Jungle”の世界を空間で表現します。同時に会場では当コレクションの展示販売をします。いくつか過去のアーカイブも展示しますので、ぜひこの機会をお見逃しなく！

4/12（土）に会場で行われる柴田聡子ライブイベントを記念してmigh-T x 柴田聡子コラボTシャツも作りました！migh-Tの2014年春夏コレクションから飛び出したヤマネコが柴田さんのメガネをかけています。
このTシャツは展覧会期間中と、その後も柴田さんのライブの物販に登場する予定です。

Wow, it's been a year since the last update..
We moved to Japan last spring and have just finished making the very first collection here in Osaka!
We are working with great manufacturers who are very passionate about their unique skills.
We are very excited to show it in the coming roomslink trade show during Tokyo Fashion Week.

気がつけば前回のアップデートから１年経っていました。。
この春から日本に拠点をうつして、はじめてのコレクションを制作しました。
日本ではテキスタイルで挑戦できることがとても多く、プリント、刺繍など、素晴らしい技術をもった職人さんたちとものづくりをするのがとても楽しいです。
来週東京の展示会roomslinkに出展します。

 migh-T SS14 collection 
"Deep in the Jungle"
　
Far across the oceans, under open skies, exists a land without people. Deep in the jungle, there is  a place where the flora and fauna have developed unchecked.  Nature has created a unique ecosystem where animals play around and evolve in different directions from those we know.

Undisturbed, the flowers bloom large and fragrant. The Yamaneko mountain cats grow taller than trees so they can see their prey from great distances. The monkeys bounce around and tease the birds while their quiet cousins, the sloths practice hanging from trees and relax under the shining stars.

Bright coloured parrots soar through the sky with bright eyes twinkling. With all this activity, it's like the jungle has just come alive and takes them to see new delights at every turn.

migh-T 2014年　春夏コレクション　"Deep in the Jungle"

海のはるか彼方、 ひらけた空の真下に人の手が届かない場所がある。ジャングルの奥地、見たこともない動植物が独自の進化を遂げながら生息している。 自然が生み出した生態系で動物たちはいきいきと暮らしている。 花は香り高く大きく咲き誇り、ヤマネコは遠くの獲物まで見渡せるようにまわりの木々よりも背を伸ばしている。すばしっこいサル、リラックスするナマケモノ、どんな人工物よりも鮮やかな色をしたオウム、人のいないジャングルは絶えず活気を帯びている。

Paris Fashion Week and Little Dragon project

 

The Paris trip was very nice. migh-T's SS13 collection was shown at Capsule show. The show moved this season to the South of the river. The building was like a ship floating in the river.

We had a good catch up with familiar faces as well as new people:)

We also had special guests, Yukimi and Fred from Little Dragon. They came all the way through a typical fashion week traffic jam between their crazy schedule! Always great to see them! Such an unique and inspirational band!

 Yukimi seriously liked the new stuff.. I can't wait to see her wearing them on stage.

Yukimi Little Dragon in migh-T carrot dress

I saw Yukimi and guys from Little Dragon the other night when they came to play at NME award show:)
Yukimi came out to the stage in the carrot dress from migh-T SS12 " Ancient Wonders" collection!
Suits her so so well and she looked absolutely stunning!!
I also liked her original styling with Tsumori sun visor and carrot colour leggings!

migh-T AW11 Collection "Hidden World" The Autumn Winter 2011 collection includes products such as luxury hand knitted cashmere jumpers, cardigans, silk dresses, cotton jersey dresses, over sized T-shirts, corduroy trousers, and knitted scarves. These products are manufactured in the UK to the highest standard. My very unique design and print work can be seen throughout.

The theme for this collection is “Hidden World” in which I spotlight the animals and plants that live in hidden places and whose activities are not well known or visible to the human eye. The plants growing underground, animals living in burrows, secretly eating their vegetables and getting up to mischief.
